How do partial dentures work?
Partial dentures—often called removable partial dentures or removable bridges—are custom-crafted dental prosthetics designed to replace one or more missing teeth when some natural teeth still remain. They restore functionality, improve appearance, and help maintain proper alignment of your existing teeth.
These dentures use specially designed metal or flexible clasps (also known as “arms”) that securely anchor around your natural teeth. These clasps provide stability, support, and retention, ensuring your partial denture stays in place while you speak, eat, and smile with confidence.
What’s the difference between partial dentures and dental implants?
Partial dentures and dental implants are both popular options for replacing missing teeth, but they differ significantly in design, comfort, cost, and long-term maintenance.
Partial dentures are a removable tooth-replacement device that rests on your gums and attaches to nearby natural teeth using metal or flexible clasps. They are typically more affordable, non-surgical, and quicker to make, making them a convenient option for many patients.
Dental implants, on the other hand, are a permanent solution. An implant is a titanium post surgically inserted into the jawbone, creating a secure anchor for crowns, bridges, or even full dentures. While implants offer excellent stability and a natural feel, they require oral surgery, longer healing times, and a significantly higher investment. They can also require additional complex or costly treatment if complications arise over time.
How do you make sure it matches the color and shade of my own natural teeth?
To ensure your ResetSmile partial denture blends seamlessly with your natural smile, we use a custom photo-based tooth shade-matching system—instead of preselected shade tabs that rely on guesswork for a limited color selection.
Your At-Home Impression Kit includes a professional tooth shade match card. Simply hold the card next to your natural teeth, take a clear selfie, and upload the photo at resetsmile.com/upload when you send back your impressions.
Our dental lab then uses advanced shade-analysis techniques to digitally match your exact tooth color from the photo, ensuring a natural, lifelike result. We offer over a dozen natural tooth shades and multiple gum shades, allowing us to precisely mimic the tone, translucency, and brightness of your real teeth.
This customized approach delivers a more accurate shade match than asking patients to choose from limited, preselected shade options.
Is ResetSmile made in the USA?
Yes, ResetSmile is proudly made in the USA with manufacturing locations in Texas and New Jersey.
Does ResetSmile work with broken teeth?
Yes—ResetSmile can replace missing teeth, and in many cases, we can also create a device that fits over broken or damaged teeth. Whether a broken tooth can be included depends on several factors, including:
How far down the tooth is broken
How much space is available to build a secure and stable partial denture
The health of the remaining tooth structure
Approval from our reviewing dentist after evaluating your impressions and photos
Because every situation is unique, we can’t confirm eligibility until we receive your at-home impressions and photos for professional review. However, many customers are surprised to learn that we can design custom devices that fit over certain broken teeth—as long as there is enough healthy structure and adequate space for proper retention. In the event that we can't replace a broken tooth or can't fabricate a partial denture, you will be contacted to discuss your options.
Do you make full dentures / a full arch of teeth?
Unfortunately no, ResetSmile is appropriate for those missing some, but not all, of their teeth because each custom-made device is made of a flexible material that grips onto the remaining teeth along the gumline to securely snap into place.
Do you ship to Canada or other countries outside the USA?
Unfortunately not at the present time as we ship and sell only in the USA. We hope to expand in the future.
What if I'm not sure whether I'm a good candidate for ResetSmile because of my particular dental condition?
If after you mail in your dental impression our dental team and/or licensed dentist determines that ResetSmile is not appropriate for you given your dental condition and we cannot make you a device, we will notify you and issue a full refund to your method of payment.
Can you eat with ResetSmile?
Yes — you can absolutely eat while wearing ResetSmile. Our device is a dentist-grade, custom-made partial denture alternative designed to help you chew comfortably and enjoy your favorite foods with confidence. ResetSmile provides secure retention and stability, allowing most users to eat normally throughout the day.
Your device should be removed for brushing, flossing, and routine cleaning, but you can wear it while eating, speaking, and smiling just as you would with traditional dental appliances.
What are my tooth replacement options if I am only missing some teeth?
If you’re missing one tooth—or several teeth, but not all—ResetSmile offers a convenient, affordable, and natural-looking tooth replacement option. Unlike dental implants or fixed bridges, which are invasive, costly, and often require surgery, ResetSmile provides a non-surgical, metal-free alternative that restores both function and appearance.
ResetSmile is crafted from the same dentist-approved flexible material that has been used for decades in professional dental offices. This removable partial denture alternative is comfortable to wear, allows you to chew food normally, and blends seamlessly with your natural smile.
Best of all, you can get ResetSmile entirely from home using our at-home mail-in impression kit—no dental appointments required.
Is ResetSmile approved by a real doctor?
Yes. Every aspect of your treatment with the ResetSmile system is doctor-prescribed and doctor-managed by an assigned board certified dentist licensed in your state. Your ResetSmile purchase price automatically includes this service, which is provided to you through our partnership with leading teledentistry networks. Upon completing your purchase and providing your dental & health information online, ResetSmile will electronically assign you a Board Certified Dentist who will evaluate your dental/medical history, photos and impressions you submit to make sure ResetSmile is appropriate for you, create and prescribe your treatment plan, oversee the digital device design, and approve your final ResetSmile device before it is shipped to you.
What is the difference between ResetSmile and dental implants?
ResetSmile partial dentures and dental implants are both popular options for replacing missing teeth, but they differ significantly in design, comfort, cost, and long-term maintenance.
Partial dentures from ResetSmile are a removable tooth-replacement device that rests on your gums and attaches to nearby natural teeth and gums using flexible clasps made from Valplast.
Can ResetSmile replace teeth in the back of my mouth?
Yes — ResetSmile can absolutely replace missing back teeth, including molars and premolars. Each device is custom-designed to your unique dental anatomy using advanced 3D software and precision 3D printing based on the impressions you send in. This ensures a secure, comfortable, and natural-looking fit even in the back of your mouth.
If you have no remaining teeth behind the missing area, our design process allows the device to stay stable by gripping the natural undercuts along the gumline of the tooth or teeth in front. The flexible Valplast material gently adapts to these undercuts, creating a secure hold without metal clasps or invasive procedures.
ResetSmile offers a reliable, non-surgical solution for replacing back teeth, restoring your ability to chew comfortably and smile confidently.
How long do I wait after an extraction to take molds?
It’s important to allow your extraction site to heal before taking dental impressions for a partial denture or tooth replacement device. This is important for 2 main reasons:
In most cases, dentists advise waiting 4–6 weeks after a tooth extraction. This healing period allows the gums and bone to stabilize, ensuring your impressions are accurate and your final device fits securely and comfortably.
For the best results, consult your dentist and follow their timeline before completing your at-home impression kit.
Can I eat normally with ResetSmile partial dentures?
Yes — ResetSmile partial dentures are designed to let you eat and drink comfortably while maintaining a natural, lifelike appearance. Our custom-made partial dentures provide the stability and strength needed for everyday chewing, allowing most people to enjoy a normal diet with confidence.
Because ResetSmile devices are crafted using dentist-grade flexible materials and custom-fitted from your impressions, they offer a secure and comfortable fit that supports both function and aesthetics. This makes them an excellent option for anyone looking for a non-surgical, reliable tooth replacement that performs well during meals.
For best results, remove your device only for brushing, flossing, and cleaning.

Can I upgrade to implants or another solution later?
Yes. Many customers use ResetSmile as:
A long-term solution
A temporary “interim” device while saving for implants
A cosmetic upgrade from a metal or acrylic partial
You can transition to fixed bridges or implant-supported restorations later if desired.
How do I keep my ResetSmile partial dentures clean?
For best results:
Use Smile Again or Val-Clean® denture cleaners - avoid tablets and store bought cleaners
Avoid hot water (it can warp flexible resin) - warm water is ok!
Store in water when not in use
Brush your natural teeth and gums daily
Avoid toothpaste on the partial since it is abrasive and can scratch the polished surface
A denture care guide is included with every order.
What materials do you use for ResetSmile partial dentures?
We use the same materials that dentists have used for decades. Every ResetSmile device is made of Valplast, the gold standard in dentistry for flexible removable partial dentures. It's been used in over 300 million devices.
Valplast is a nylon resin and is known for it's high durability and high flexibility. A well-cared-for ResetSmile partial denture should last about 5 years!
How long do partial dentures last? What about ResetSmile partial dentures?
According to the American Dental Association (ADA), removable partial dentures should typically be replaced every five years, or sooner if they become loose, uncomfortable, or if changes occur in your mouth that affect the fit. Over time, natural bone reshaping, gum changes, and normal wear can impact how well a partial denture functions. (source: ADA Oral Health)
ResetSmile partial dentures follow the same general lifespan guidelines. Because they are made from durable, flexible, dentist-grade materials, many customers enjoy long-lasting comfort and stability. However, the exact longevity of any partial denture depends on factors such as:
Daily wear and tear
Oral hygiene habits
Natural changes in your gums and remaining teeth
How well the device is cared for
Regular assessments and proper cleaning help extend the lifespan of your ResetSmile device, ensuring it continues to fit securely and look natural.
Why are your partial dentures defined as temporary?
The dental industry defines partial dentures as temporary as they can be removed for fittings, cleaning or other reasons. This is in contrast to other teeth replacement options like dental implants that are considered permanent.
Dental implants require surgery where a metal post is set into your jaw. Once healed a tooth is then applied to the post. Dental implants are expensive, intrusive and the treatment can take months.
Our partial dentures are affordable, convenient and don't require in office dentist visits. We can provide you a custom fit partial denture from the comfort of your home.
Can my local dentist adjust or reline my ResetSmile partial?
Yes. ResetSmile uses genuine Valplast™ resin, the same material dentists use worldwide.
Most dentists can make minor adjustments or polish any rough areas if needed.
If your dentist has questions, we can provide material details or technical guidance. Additionally, here is a link to the clinical support page on the Valplast website: https://www.valplast.com/clinical-techniques
Can I sleep with my partial dentures in?
It is recommended to remove your partial dentures at night in order to allow your teeth and gums to rest. However, removing your partial dentures for extended periods of time beyond just sleeping can lead to your natural teeth shifting, causing issues with how your partial denture fits.
What if I damage my partial?
Under normal use, your ResetSmile partial denture should not become damaged. We take the utmost care in using the best materials, processes and rigorous quality control to ensure that devices are designed to last for years of use. If your device cracks, bends, or becomes damaged:
Cracks, fractures and chipping will usually require a replacement device
ResetSmile customers are eligible for discounted replacement devices
Order a backup device at any time so that you have a spare available in the event that your device does become damaged
Just contact support and we’ll guide you.
Will a poorly fitting partial damage my teeth or gums?
A properly made flexible partial should protect remaining teeth—not harm them.
However, an ill-fitting partial (from bad impressions or changes in your mouth) can cause:
Gum irritation
Sore spots
Pressure on anchor teeth
ResetSmile reduces these risks through:
Professional dentist review
Precision 3D printed Valplast resin
Approval before fabrication
Adjustments or remakes if needed
If you feel discomfort after receiving your device, please contact deviceissues@resetsmile.com and our clinical team can advise on next steps.
Will my partial affect my bite?
A well-designed partial restores your bite by replacing missing teeth.
However, natural teeth can shift over time, which may change how your partial fits.
If your bite changes significantly, you may eventually need:
A new impression
A reline
A replacement partial
ResetSmile offers discounted replacement devices when your anatomy changes.
Will the partial cause bone loss?
Missing teeth naturally lead to some bone shrinkage over time, no matter which solution you choose.
A well-fitting partial helps slow that process by distributing bite forces evenly. Some studies even show that flexible partial dentures do a better job than cast metal and acrylic partial dentures at maintaining bone density.*
What are the alternatives to a flexible partial denture?
Common alternatives include:
Acrylic partials
Metal framework partials
Fixed dental bridges
Implant-supported restorations
Valplast flexible partials are typically chosen when comfort, aesthetics, and affordability are priorities.
Will my partial stain or discolor over time?
Flexible resin resists staining, but habits like drinking coffee, tea, red wine, or smoking can cause buildup.
Using Smile Again or Val-Clean denture cleanser daily helps maintain brightness.
